The Los Angeles Angels are also known as the Halos or the Angels. The team was originally based in Los Angeles and was known as the Los Angeles Angels from 1961 to 1965. Between 1965 and 1996, the team was based in Anaheim, California and was known as the California Angels. In 1997, the team changed their name to the Anaheim Angels, and then in 2005 they changed their name again to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The nickname "Halos" is derived from the team's logo, which features a halo above an "A".
